Dutch Panna Knock Out is a new form of streetsoccer that originates from Holland. panna is the Surinam/Dutch slang for playing the ball through the legs of your opponent. Unlike football games, panna is all about individual technique and skill.
Panna is Dutch street football where subtle dribbling is worth ten times more than a goal scored.
Players play 1 against 1 on a small pitch measuring 4 x 6 metres in quick games lasting 3 minutes. The winner is the one who scores the most goals. But better still than scoring a goal is passing your opponent by dribbling the ball between his legs. A classic “gate” of this kind is the highest possible achievement and makes you the winner immediately. And this is where the origin of the name of the game is to be found: “panna” means “gate” in Surinamese.
It is more than a sport: Panna is a lifestyle.
For the youth, however, Panna is more than just a football game. Panna is a lifestyle, complete with urban clothing, street slang, hip hop music and streetwise attitudes. The trick is to impose yourself on your opponent without any sign of emotion and without losing a drop of sweat. And all of this with the ever-present pumping hip hop beat in a relaxed atmosphere.
Naturally the basis of the game is on the street. The ‘show aspect’ of street football became steadily more important for Moroccan and Surinamese players. Showing off your tricks and skills became the way of presenting yourself. Inspired by heroes such as Edgar Davids and Zidane, they trained for days, for weeks, for months looking for the ultimate trick to unseat their opponent. With, of course, the Panna as the ultimate humiliation. Scoring a Panna earns you respect and makes you a hero on the street. Suffering a Panna makes you creep under the paving stones for shame.

In april heeft een team van Panna KO Brazilië bezocht. Tezamen met de partners Plataforma Brasil Holanda en het Consulaat Generaal te São Paulo is een Braziliaans team opgezet en getraind dat Panna Knock Out nu ook in Brazilië gaat aanbieden. Voor de maanden mei en juni staan al 50 toernooien gepland die het Brasilteam zal organiseren. En de boys from Holland, de bakermat panna, zullen bij de grote toernooien hun Braziliaanse collega’s ondersteunen.
Panna Brasil werd gelanceerd op 8 april in São Paulo onder aanwezigheid van de ministers Eurlings en Verhagen. Onder toeziend oog van de vele Braziliaanse kinderen en jongeren speelde Camiel Eurlings het eerste potje Panna op Braziliaanse bodem tegen Valter Rocha, de secretaris Sport. Direct aansluitend lieten de jongeren zien dat er goed gevoetbald wordt in Brazilië. Iedereen ging voor de panna en is wild enthousiast over het spelletje

Soufiane Touzani, de groot leermeester in straatvoetbal. Wie hem niet kent heeft bijzonder veel gemist. Al jaren staat Touzani boven aan de lijst van bekende straatvoetballers. Wereldwijd bekend om al zijn trucs. 24 februari is de samenwerking met Touzani productions en Panna Knock Out van start gegaan tijdens het Grand Slam Panna Knock Out in Den Helder. Joshua "The Dreamer" Agteres een absoluut talent op zijn eigen wijze. Met een uitmuntend gevoel voor show en relaxtheid. Joshua heeft in verschillende commercials, tv programma's zijn trucs laten zien. Ook was hij te zien tijdens de EO jongerendag.
Mohamed Boutaka, de koning van de panna's en het gek maken van tegenstanders. Mo was finalist tijdens het NK van 2007 en 2008, en won het NK in 2006 en 2009-2010. Met veel internationale ervaring is Mo tot alles in staat. Van freestyle shows tot demo wedstrijden.
Hoessain Kamal, de enige speler die drie NK titels op zijn naam heeft staan. Hoessain won het eerste NK in 2005. In 2006 was hij verliezend finalist, in 2007 en 2008 was de titel weer bij hem. in 2009-2010 kwam hij tot de kwartfinale. Hoessain is de perfecte demonstratie speler.

Dit schooljaar zal Sportservice Heemstede-Zandvoort in het kader van de Brede school drie Panna Knock Out trainingen organiseren in Zandvoort. De cursus duurt vier weken en zal per leeftijdscategorie worden aangeboden op diverse locaties. Elke cursus zal worden afgesloten met een heus Panna KO toernooi! De winnaars, per leeftijdscategorie, spelen tegen elkaar in de grote finale op 11 juli in Zandvoort. De uiteindelijke winnaar mag zich ‘Panna King’ van Zandvoort noemen en ontvangt een uitnodiging voor het NK Panna Knock Out in Beverwijk.

Melanchthon Mathenesse, een kleine VMBO school met zo’n 250 leerlingen in Rotterdam, is dit schooljaar gestart in een nieuw gebouw op de Punt. Het is een school, maar ook een ‘sportpaleis’, ontmoetingsplek, theater en ondernemerscentrum. Dit gebouw is speciaal ontworpen om op de beste manier te leren, te doen en te ontdekken.
Melanchthon Mathenesse heeft besloten om hun unieke manier van leren aan te vullen met de voordelen en mogelijkheden die Panna Knock Out biedt. Daarom wordt begin 2012 hier de eerste Rotterdamse Panna Knock Out Kooi geplaatst. Respect is een van de basisprincipes van het spel Panna KO. Respect voor elkaar, de tegenstander en het spel is iets waat een perfecte aanvulling is op de leermethodes binnen deze VMBO school. Begin 2012 zal de kooi worden geplaatst bij Melanchthon Mathenesse en zal worden geopend door niemand minder dan Nederlands Kampioen Mohamed Boutaka.
